A group of 300 young people under the State House–supported Youth Wealth Creation Programme in Nakawa Municipality has launched a coordinated mobilisation drive to rally support for President Museveni ahead of the upcoming elections.
The team, comprising beneficiaries of the programme, made the announcement during a meeting at Luzira Secondary School, where they outlined plans to conduct extensive door-to-door campaigns across Nakawa and the greater Kampala area.
The initiative is chaired by Suzan Kansiime and was officially unveiled by Faizal Ndase, the programme’s coordinator.
Ndase said the youths had voluntarily organised themselves in appreciation of the support they have received through the initiative, which is coordinated by State House Comptroller Jane Barekye.
He urged Ugandans to reflect on the country’s development progress and consider the programme’s tangible impact when making electoral decisions.
“This group has been empowered and transformed. After the elections, we intend to launch them as a SACCO so that more funds can be injected to support their enterprises through low-interest loans,” Ndase said.
Kansiime, tasked with leading the mobilisation for President Museveni and other NRM candidates, said the young people stand firmly behind the President because of the improvements they have experienced in their lives.
She argued that President Museveni should continue leading the country to sustain and expand these gains.
Another beneficiary, Irene Kanyange, said the mobilisation will also target votes for NRM flag bearers at all levels, assuring that Nakawa will deliver a stronger mandate for the ruling party.
Luzira Parish LC2 Chairperson Nnalongo Monica Wanyama commended President Museveni and the Youth Wealth Creation Programme for empowering ordinary citizens.
She said the initiative has improved livelihoods, rehabilitated former wrongdoers and enabled many young people to engage in productive economic activities.
She appealed to residents to support the President so he can continue uplifting vulnerable groups.
The Youth Wealth Creation Programme provides skills, tools and financial support to young people as part of State House efforts to boost youth entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment.
The newly formed mobilisation team says it is determined to ensure President Museveni secures a decisive win in the upcoming elections.
